Susan Caswell is the owner and operator of Xhale Pilates Studio in downtown Sandpoint, with 40 years of experience in the health and fitness industry and 20 years dedicated to teaching Pilates.
Susan believes that staying active is one of the greatest keys to enjoying life at every age. She feels blessed to help her clients build strength, improve mobility, and continue doing the things they love.
Over the years, her clients have become like family, and she treasures the relationships built at the studio. Her greatest joy is seeing each person grow stronger, move with greater ease, and experience the confidence that comes from feeling their best.
Movement has been the foundation of my career for more than 25 years, but it was discovering Pilates over 20 years ago that truly changed the way I viewed fitness. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to sharing its lasting benefits and have proudly owned Xhale Pilates in downtown Sandpoint for the past 20 years. Of every discipline I’ve taught, Pilates is the one I believe in most. It is a thoughtful, intelligent approach to movement that helps people build strength, improve balance, move with confidence, and continue doing the things they love throughout every stage of life.
While I also own a local coffee shop, the studio has always been my favorite place to be. The relationships I’ve built with our clients and the wonderful community of Sandpoint have made Xhale far more than a business—it has become a place of connection, encouragement, and friendship. My greatest passion is helping every person who walks through our doors feel stronger, healthier, and inspired to keep moving for years to come.
Stephanie’s teaching stems from a decade of working in the massage therapy and yoga fields, adding a comprehensive Pilates apparatus certification in 2014. Her favorite classes to teach are small group reformer so that she can get into the details of how we each move differently, and add insight into the why of our unique bodies in motion. She brings a full body strength lens to her sessions, while also being intentional and mindful about meeting each client where they are that day.
“No two clients are the same,” says Rachael, who brings an individualized approach to every client she works with. A Third-Generation Pilates Instructor, Rachael’s training is rooted in Joseph Pilates’ Classical tradition, helping clients achieve the greatest gains from their workouts. From classes to one-on-one instruction, Rachael shares the joys of Pilates—and its powerful support for the nervous system, movement efficiency, and strength-building—in every session.
Rachael began working in health and wellness education 30 years ago, training emergency responders, and hasn’t stopped since. Beyond Pilates, she is a National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach—a distinction held by fewer than 2% of health coaches. She enjoys helping athletes enhance their performance and supporting clients in their rehabilitation and return to movement. Rachael also works with individuals who are post-surgery, post-injury, or navigating autoimmune conditions, gut health, hormone health, and other sensitive needs.
Elaine Morrison has been a Certified Pilates Instructor since 2006 and completed more than 500 hours of comprehensive Pilates teacher training through Long Beach Dance Conditioning, Long Beach, CA. She has also completed additional training in pre- and postnatal Pilates.

Elaine previously served as Pilates Studio Manager and Lead Instructor at the Jonathan Club in Los Angeles, CA, and currently teaches at Gozzer Ranch in addition to Xhale Pilates.

Google reviewSusan Caswell has become not just my longtime Pilates teacher, but a trusted friend, and I recommend her with my whole heart. Hardworking, practical and dependable are words that describe her teaching style and personality. She gives her years of experience and knowledge freely and understands holistic health deeply. For those of us over 50, or anybody managing an injury, she offers clever modifications to exercises to ensure everybody stays safe. While keeping our physical limitations in mind, she also challenges us to find opportunities to gain strength. You won’t regret training with Susan—I trust her with my body and health!
